catch up

I know I have been seriously slacking, and for that I apologize. I will try to to better. Just know that we have a very busy few weeks ahead and I may not get back on track for awhile. We are moving to St. George on the 30th, and not at all packed. Also, with this pregnancy I have just been so exhausted that it is all I can do to make sure the boys are fed and alive. I should be getting over it soon. I hope.

A few stories I have been saving.

Apparently mamas don't get presents. Logan told me that I don't get presents for Christmas. I told him that if I wasn't getting any presents then I guess I didn't need to be good. And he said that I did have to be good, that mamas aren't allowed to be naughty. That I don't get presents because I am too old.

Logan likes to pretend to be a reindeer. When he is a reindeer his name is Toddy (don't ask, I don't know.) When he is a reindeer he hops around on all fours like a frog. When he is a reindeer he doesn't need a fork at dinner because reindeer just put their faces in their food. He is not allowed to be a reindeer at mealtimes.

Great mommy moment that happened yesterday. We were playing at a friend's house and I asked Logan not to play with the balls anymore because he was knocking over the basketball hoop and throwing the balls too hard in the house. A few minutes later the older boy (he is 5) was trying to get Logan to play with the balls again and from across the room I heard Logan tell him that he can't because his mommy asked him not to. *sigh* I was so proud of him for standing up for himself, and doing what he thought he should even though I wasn't nearby.

My boys love kiwi. If you want to get on their good side bring them a kiwi. you may think I am joking. I am not. I can hardly get one peeled before it is eaten whole. I even tried chopping them up and I can't even sit down before it is devoured. I like kiwi too, but if I want to eat one I have to wait till they are asleep or otherwise occupied. Or I will only get maybe half of a kiwi.

I am sure there are more stories that I have missed in my month off but that is all that comes to mind immediately. If I think of more I will post again. Yeah, right.

pregnant boy and other short stories

I am sure you have all heard about the man in Oregon who is pregnant, again. Apparently we also have a pregnant male in our house. Logan. Yup, that's right. Logan is pregnant. He told me so. I think it must be contagious or something. He informed me today that he is pregnant with a boy and it is his cousin and he is going to be named Karen. (Hey Amy, looks like Michael isn't alone is his wrong gender name choices!) He also told me that the baby in his tummy is growing an growing and it will come out when I turn 100. Wow, I thought 9 months was long.

Completely separate story. Steve hadn't shaved for a few days and he and Logan were wrestling around. Apparently Logan thought that daddy was too scruffy so he asked daddy if he would go wash it off.

Bronson fell down the stairs yesterday. He doesn't seem to realize that his legs are too short for him to walk down the stairs without holding onto anything. Seriously, this kid is going to give me gray hair! He is constantly climbing on top of things or inside of things or squishing underneath things. What's worse is he is teaching Logan how to do all this stuff too. He is trouble. He falls down constantly and it seems to concentrate on his face. I can't even count how many times he has made his lip bleed or gotten scabs on his nose and forehead. I am sure you can imagine the looks I get from people when I take him out. I promise I am not abusing him!!

Jen's baby shower

Today we had Jen's baby shower, so of course I HAD to make her a diaper cake. Her nursery colors are light pink and brown, so I made one accordingly. I think it is my best yet. What do you think? By the way Jen is EIGHT months pregnant here. Unbelievable, right?
I really enjoy making these, so much so that I am thinking about selling some on KSL or craigslist or something. I don't know, you think anyone would buy them?

a few more details

Thanks to so many of you who congratulated us. It means a lot to me. As you all deduced so cleverly, yes I am pregnant. But just barely. I am only about 7 weeks along, as best as I can tell. I estimate my due date at July 1st, but that all could change when I see the doctor (they pushed Bronson's estimated due date back a week). I have been thinking I was pregnant for awhile, even before my period was late, but the tests kept coming back negative. (yes, I was even using the '5 days before your missed period' ones) I had finally convinced myself that I wasn't pregnant, that I was just psyching myself out because I wanted to be so badly. I had convinced myself that I was crazy about even thinking that I was pregnant. By the time I got a positive result I was shocked. I have now taken the test three times to try and convince myself that it really is true. Still seems unbelievable. We are so excited.

Logan seems to totally understand what is going on, he is so cute about it. he is always kissing and hugging my tummy and talking to the baby. The other day I wasn't feeling well and I hunched over and Logan got worried and upset and told me to sit up cause I was squishing the baby. Bronson of course doesn't have the slightest clue that his whole world will change soon. Really not sure how he will take it, how will he react when his favorite spot is now filled with a large belly?

We also just got a new car a few months ago and we will have to figure out how/if we can fit three car seats in the back. I also would like to have Bronson potty-trained before the baby comes. That would be nice. Somehow we need to get both boys in one room. Anyway, sorry so long, just a lot on my mind and a lot about our future that is now up in the air.

cuddles

I am not sure how it started, but years ago when Logan was small and would get hurt or upset I would ask him if he needed a cuddle. For us a cuddle is like a hug but our faces are touching, usually cheeks, and we sort of hum. I have no idea where this came from or how we started it but it is one of the boys most favorite things when they are upset. It seems to help them calm down and feel safe.

Bronson is now to the point where he asks me for cuddles (sounds more like cuhhhs) and puts his face on mine and hums. So, if you are ever watching my boys and they ask you for cuddles or cuhhhs you will know what they mean. (yes, dad, this is for you)

Momentous Occasion

Today at lunch the most amazing thing happened! I asked Bronson to do something, and he did it! I don't think this has ever happened before. He wanted a cookie and I told him that he needed to have one more bite of his food, and he just took a bite. He didn't even scream at me! Ah, moments like these make me feel like it is not all for nothing.

big ears

The other morning I told Bronson "no" about something and he threw a fit, so Steve jokingly says "Gosh Mama, you're ruining his life!" Now since Logan heard this and remembers and repeats everything, he likes to tell me that I am ruining his life everytime I tell him 'no'. All you parents out there, be careful what you say! Little kids sure have big ears!

Halloween party

Grandma and Grandpa Wood's ward had a Halloween party that they invited us to. The boys had a great time. In case you can't tell from the pictures, Logan is a dragon and Bronson is a knight.

Daddy helping Bronson with his cupcake.

Logan won a cupcake in the cake walk and this is him eating it straight off Grandma Jackie's hand. I think she is lucky that he didn't lick it when he was finished!
I included this shot so you can see what Bronson's costume would look like if he would actually keep the helmet on for more than half a second.
mama and her big boy!
Cute shot of the boys on our stairs. If you notice the slight blue to Logan's mouth it isn't because he is suffocating. The boys got haircuts today and suckers are how you keep them still. Though you do have to wash the suckers off a lot because they quickly get hair covered and nasty.

umm, no.

So I had to talk to a customer service rep today and he said the strangest thing to me. At the end of the conversation he asked me if he delighted me. I said ' umm, no. I wouldn't say delighted. But you helped me.' And then he said 'Is there anything I can do that would delight you?' I said 'No, thanks for your help.' *click*

Is that the oddest thing? Who talks like that?

Pumpkin Patch

Today we finally made it to the pumpkin patch. The boys loved it. Well, Logan loved it. Bronson more tolerated it for a few minutes. Next time we will take the family picture first and maybe we won't have a crying Bronson to contend with.

Steve helping Bronson pick a pumpkin.

Logan holding a pumpkin, but not the one he ended up choosing.

Aww, how sweet! The whole family smiling for the camera. Oh, wait. Not the whole family. Ah well, better luck next time, right?

Hmm, guess not. Bronson is still not smiling. Oh well. Logan sure looks cute though!

Future Olympian?

Logan ran around our couch for a good half an hour straight. Not kidding. Half an hour. Constant motion. It was cleanup time, so he was even cleaning as he ran. Pick up a toy, run around the couch to where ever the toy goes, keep on running. It was right before bedtime. I was hoping it would wear him out. Didn't seem to, he didn't even seem out of breath. It was pretty fun to watch. Man, that kid has energy to spare!

chicken or chickens?

Logan totally does not understand the fact that we EAT animals. He thinks there is a difference between chickens and chicken. We have tried on many instances to explain to him that chicken comes from chickens but it is totally out of his grasp. He actually gets really upset when we say that we eat any kind of animal. I have gotten to the point where when he tells me that we don't eat chickens I just say 'Oh'. That way I am not agreeing with him, but I don't have to argue with him either. He seems to think that the whole thing is some joke that Daddy and Mama made up to annoy him.

So next time you see Logan ask him if we eat chicken.

*chomp*chomp*

The other day I wasn't feeling too well so I was resting on my bed. Steve and the boys came up to visit and all crawled on the bed with me. Steve was lying on his stomach and the boys were crawling all over him. Bronson kept wriggling under Steve's head and Logan was laying on Steve's back so I said, "It's a Daddy sandwich!" Logan immediately starts pretending to eat Steve *chomp *chomp* chomp*. I looked away for a second and I hear Steve saying, " alright. all done pretending to eat Daddy!" When I looked back I saw Logan pretend biting Steve's bum *chomp * chomp * chomp* and Steve trying not to laugh and trying to sound serious as he told Logan to stop it. I didn't say anything. It was all I could handle not to laugh out loud and make Logan do it more!

check it out

check out the village shop! run in part by my very own former roommate Bonny! they are having a giveaway!

Mama moments

Yesterday I was going down the stairs with Logan and out of the blue he started singing the Primary song 'Mother, I Love You'. ( Except he doesn't sing it with the word Mother, he says Mama) I almost started crying. Especially the part 'Father in Heaven has sent me to you' . Wow, what a precious mama moment.

Another cute thing, today Logan worked for probably an hour or so on a 'cake' he was constructing out of big Legos. when it was finished he and Bronson sat down and sang 'Happy Birthday' to me. It was so darling! Logan of course knows all the words, but Bronson does not. Bronson was doing the best he could to sing along though. After they finished singing Logan got plates and a play knife from their little kitchen and Logan served all of us 'birthday cake'. So sweet!

long forgotten

So, a long time ago, not even sure how long ago,(maybe March or so?) I was the 5th caller and won a recipe box kit. I was embarrassingly excited because I never win anything. I started making the recipe box shortly after. Then Jen, who was helping me make it, left for the summer. And I kinda forgot about it . Well in my recent yearnings for projects I remembered this half-finished, completely-free, long-forgotten project had been begun many moons ago. So tonight (while watching 'top model') I resumed making it. I think it turned out pretty cute. I was so desperately in need of a new box for my recipes. Yeah! Go me!

pudding and twins

Apparently Bronson got in a fight with the pudding. I think the pudding won.

Boys in their matching pajamas. Logan thinks it is soooo cool to be dressed the same. He tells me that him and Bronson are twins.

nose issues

This morning Logan woke me up at 6:30 telling me that he needed his nose wiped because it was runny. I, obligingly, got him some toilet paper and helped him wipe his nose. He asked if he could have some more so that he could wipe his nose again if he needed to. I again agreed.

Lets jump ahead now to 3:30 this afternoon. Logan is 'supposed' to be taking a nap. He isn't. Instead he is yelling at me that his nose has something in it. I come upstairs armed with a nasal aspirator (nose sucker) and a burp cloth. Upon further investigation I find that he has shoved a piece of toilet paper up each nostril. I have to utilize both the nasal aspirator and the tried and true practice of holding one nostril closed while you blow air out the other nostril technique in order to dislodge said toilet paper.

I called Steve at work to laugh about it, I think I made his day.

hmm..........what is WRONG with this picture?

Here at the Wood Household we try to do our FHE on Sunday nights because Monday is Steve's late night.

Tonight we decided to 'make' -by we I mean me and by make I mean frost and decorate- a house for Halloween. I have been wanting to for awhile and we saw a kit in Wal-Mart the other day so we thought it would be fun, and easier than trying to construct one myself.

I don't know if it was an operator error or what but I am sorely disappointed about how our house turned out.

We (meaning me) were not able to do nearly as detailed work as the box promised us. And apparently I need to have some lessons in how to frost. I think it looks pretty sad. Plus it didn't help that the candy ghost was broken before I had finished piping the windows (thanks logan). Just for your amusement I have posted a picture of ours and a picture of what we were trying to achieve. yeah. have a good laugh.

What I have been up to.

I am not sure what has come over me but lately I have such an overwhelming need to be creative and make things. I am very lucky to have a MIL who is the queen of crafty and is very willing to teach me anything I want to know. This week she taught me how to make stuffed pumpkins. I had a great time, and I think they turned out very cute. Plus it was super easy! I have more than these, but these are the only ones completely done.

Before pic of the chosen fabrics.

This one is my favorite.
I saw this show the other day that suggested making magnets out of photographs. I thought it looked like something I could do, so I did it. Except I used stickers and scrapbook paper instead of photos. I had a blast doing it and again, it was so easy. I think I may have gone a bit overboard but I think they turned out pretty cute. My favorite are the black/white ones. I also (as you can see) did the letters for 'October' and 'Halloween'. I don't know what I will do for my next project. Any simple ideas?

no good deed . . . . . .

I have never been pulled over in my life.

Well, that was true, until Saturday. I was driving to Wal-Mart with Logan in the back. We were turning right and there were a ton of people (probably 20 or so) trying to turn left, since my side was clear I decided that I would be nice and let them all go in front of me while they had the chance. I did not know this at the time but this would be my egregious mistake. So, after letting all these people go, I went. This puts me at the back of the line of cars all traveling the same speed. I saw the cop sitting there, glanced at the MPH sign beside him and saw that it was 50 and that was the exact speed I was traveling. I thought I was fine. But I was wrong.

Apparently the speed limit is 35 UNTIL you get to the where the cop was sitting. I had no idea that I was even breaking the law. To make matters worse Logan is trying to get out of his carseat the whole time and we have yet to receive the plates for our new car. I was shocked (and so relieved) that the policeman only gave me a warning.

On my way back from the store I saw him pulling over someone else in the same spot.

sleep habits

Yesterday when I walked into Bronson's room to get him up from his nap, he had piled all of his blankets AND his pants up in the corner and was about to climb out of the crib. So we have a crib we are getting rid of and Bronson is transitioning into a twin bed. Last night the boys actually slept in the same room (well, for about half the night).

It was so funny. I put Bronson down first and let Logan stay up for a bit to give Bronson a chance to fall asleep and the whole time Logan kept telling me how tired he was and how he really wanted to go to bed. Mama of course knows better than to be fooled by this and I easily deduced that he simply wanted to go upstairs so he could play with Bronson. When we did finally put Logan to bed we explained to him that it was his job as the big brother to protect Bronson and stay in his own bed and let mommy and daddy know if Bronson woke up.

Bronson did wake up. A LOT. but Logan slept right through all of it. Eventually we put Bronson back in the crib with just one blanket (and really warm pajamas!) so that he wouldn't wake up Logan and we will try again tonight. We have someone coming to pick up the crib today so we are not going to have the option of taking the easy way out tonight. Wish me luck!

Strong man in the making

At first glance you may see this picture and think that my 3 year old has been lifting weights. He definitely has bulked up, right? If that is what you thought, you are wrong. No, this is an example of an independent three year old who likes to dress himself and has chosen to wear a thick wool sweater UNDERNEATH another long sleeve shirt. I was lucky to get a picture of him, as he grew tired of this outfit after about 2 hours and has since changed about three times. underwear and all. makes mommy so happy when she is doing laundry!

Any Ideas?

Well, it is now September. I am getting rid of the boys old costumes and starting to think about this year's costumes. I have a few ideas, but I am looking for some more. I would really like to do costumes for the boys that go together, and I am hoping you all will be able to help out.

Here is what I have so far:

Woody and Buzz (Toy Story)

Mike Wazowski and Sully (Monster's INC.)

Bob the Tomato and Larry the Cucumber (Veggie Tales)

Any input would be GREATLY appreciated!

eBay listings

I am selling the boys old costumes on eBay, I made Logan pose in them for me so I would have good pictures. He was so helpful, really cheesed it up for me. The boxer costume is from two years ago, so we were lucky to squeeze him into it. What a good sport!

Daddy time

Today Logan and I were playing downstairs and Steve was upstairs playing a game on the computer. Logan asked where daddy was and I told him that he was upstairs, that he needed some daddy time. Logan quickly says 'but I need some daddy time!' I thought that was cute so I told Logan to go tell that to daddy.

Logan went upstairs and asked Steve what he was doing, Steve told him that he was playing his computer game, and Logan proceeds to tell him that he needs some daddy time and he would like to 'go to the park or maybe swimming!' How could Steve resist? He thought it was too cute to pass up.

They went to the park.

What a little charmer. Boy are we in trouble!

just in case

I realized that my last post may not have been too clear. Logan is not really washing dishes. Just playing with play dishes in the sink. They weren't dirty. Don't worry. I don't use my three year old for slave labor!

Mama's little helper

I had a lot to get done the other day so I set Logan up at the sink 'washing' dishes. I ended up taking about twenty pictures of him instead of actually using my 'free-time' wisely. Sometimes kids can be so cute it is distracting!

Another quick story, Logan is particular about his clothes, he changes them several times a day, usually for no reason at all. The other day we were having spaghetti for dinner and Logan was very neat and clean, Bronson was a complete mess. Logan was talking to Bronson and Bronson kept reaching out trying to get him. Logan very seriously says to him: "No, Bronson! This is a very beautiful shirt I have on!"

Petting Zoo

I think these are pretty self explanatory. Lots of animals, lots of laughing and feeding. Boys had a blast.

Fishing Trip pics

Bronson was way more interested in the dogs than he was in the fish. I think they had four or so dogs running around. He was in heaven.
